With ctrlX AUTOMATION we have not only revolutionized engineering from a technological point of view - we worked hard on the product design from the very beginning too.

The basic design features of our new automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION were already laid in 2018 with the ctrlX DRIVE. We then used the design elements (e.g. blue lightpipe, frame) also for the other product categories such as ctrlX CORE, ctrlX I/O, ctrlX IPC and ctrlX SAFETY.

In order to provide you with the optimum product in terms of use, we looked at ergonomics, functionality and ease of maintenance in addition to appearance.

Our aim was to once again attach greater importance to product design as part of ctrlX AUTOMATION. That’s what we did, and the Red Dot Award for our ctrlX CORE in the category “Product Design 2020” confirms that we were right to do so. In addition to the design, the selected materials, the level of craftsmanship, the surface structure, ergonomics and functionality of the product were also evaluated.

In 2020, designers and companies submitted more than 6,500 products for the Red Dot Award: Product Design. This means that the number of entries rose by around 18 percent compared to the previous year. In total, the competition attracted entries from 60 countries.

The jury did not take it easy this year either, because only the best products have a chance to win an award!

ctrlX CORE not only impresses with its maximum performance but also with first-class design that is suitable for all production environments.

The Red Dot Award: Product Design, which has existed in its origins since 1955, determines the best products of each year. Manufacturers and designers from all over the world can submit their designs to the competition in 49 categories. Participants whose submissions are smart or innovative can hope for an award.
