On Tuesday, September 29, 2020, almost exactly one year after the first release of ctrlX AUTOMATION, Bosch Rexroth presented the highlights 2020 and announced the platform's new features:
Automation platform taken to the next level with ctrlX I/O
The next level of its open industrial automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION is reached with the launch of ctrlX I/O. This will provide the platform, which is characterized by app technology, with additional interfaces to the field and control level. On the one hand, the I/O portfolio serves for horizontal and vertical integration, on the other hand it represents a functional extension of the ctrlX CORE control platform. In the future, comprehensive communication and performance extensions as well as I/O modules geared towards future technologies such as 5G, TSN and AI will be available. The new integrated automation solution opens up a wide range of possibilities in terms of connectivity and networking in the increasingly digitalized industry.
Third party vendors can offer their own applications via ctrlX AUTOMATION
With ctrlX AUTOMATION Bosch Rexroth has created an open ecosystem with applications for any automation task. Users can use apps from Bosch Rexroth, third-party applications or apps they have created themselves. More and more third-party providers are joining the ctrlX World. They are expanding their business models and the reach of their solutions through this multiplier. Bosch Rexroth is also expanding its partnerships in the hardware sector and co-creation of new solutions.
ctrlX SAFETY sets new standards for safe automation
With ctrlX SAFETY Bosch Rexroth introduces a novelty to the automation market: the most responsive and compact security solution of its kind. It is a scalable system that can be used as needed - from the drive-integrated SafeMotion solution in ctrlX DRIVE to the complete ctrlX SAFETY controller. In addition to flexible application possibilities, the advantages include a very high level of safety thanks to the fastest possible reaction times and efficient engineering through graphic programming of the safety PLC.
Extension of ctrlX AUTOMATION by the extensive support offer of ctrlX SERVICES
Furthermore, the ecosystem around its automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION will be expanded with new services for users: ctrlX App Store , ctrlX Device Portal and ctrlX AUTOMATION Community . The platform with app technology is characterized by its openness and modularity and opens up completely new scope in industrial automation. ctrlX SERVICES docks to the platform and significantly facilitates the "developer's life".
