Automation kit for dispensing – precise dosing, flexible production

When it comes to dispensing – i.e. precisely dosing, potting, gluing, or coating – abso-lute accuracy is essential. Adhesives, pastes, or fluids must be applied in a precisely defined quantity and shape – often with tolerances in the micrometer range. At the same time, the requirements in terms of flexibility are increasing, as materials, ge-ometries, and dispensing heads change quickly.

Automation for CNC dispensing in a set

The "Dispensing" solution set is a pre-configured automation bundle for high-precision dosing applications. It is based on ctrlX CORE, ctrlX MOTION, ctrlX DRIVE, motors, and ctrlX I/O. These are complemented by ctrlX HMI, ctrlX IPC, and open communication interfaces such as OPC UA.

The powerful motion control enables precise path guidance, on-the-fly synchronization, and reproducible dispensing results – regardless of whether applying dots, beads, or patches. Features such as product coordinate systems, tool offsets, or switch-on-path ensure maximum process precision.

Thanks to the open architecture, different dispensing heads, materials, and applications can be flexibly integrated: from batteries to semiconductors to solar. Dispensing paths can be programmed flexibly using IEC 61131, G-code, Python, or graphical tools.

"Parameterizing instead of programming" is the motto in engineering. This significantly reduces the amount of work required and speeds up commissioning: for efficient and future-proof dispensing solutions.

Example application for Dispensing

ctrlX CORE with ctrlX MOTION controls and synchronizes dispensing axes via ctrlX DRIVE. ctrlX I/O is connected via EtherCAT and integrates sensors as well as actuators. ctrlX HMI allows browser-based operation. Open interfaces (OPC UA) integrate MES/ERP systems.

ctrlX CORE – Control platform for dispensing

The control platform ctrlX CORE combines PLC, motion control, and communication in a compact platform. With ctrlX OS and app technology, dispensing processes can be flexibly expanded and easily integrated into existing production environments, making them scalable and future-proof.

 

ctrlX MOTION – Precise path guidance and synchronization

ctrlX MOTION enables highly dynamic and precise motion sequences for CNC dispensing. Functions such as on-the-fly synchronization, precise path guidance, PCS, and tool offsets ensure reproducible dispensing results for complex geometries. The one-motion architecture means that, in addition to classic Cartesian kinematics, robots such as Delta, Scara, and many more can also be used in the system.

ctrlX DRIVE – Dynamic drive technology

ctrlX DRIVE ensures precise and dynamic axis movements in the dispensing process. The drive technology is flexibly scalable and offers the right performance class for every application. Combined with ctrlX MOTION, this results in a powerful motion architecture for precise dispensing paths and stable processes – even at high speeds.

 

Motors – Precision right up to the dosing point

The motors provide the basis for exact positioning and reproducible movement sequences. They enable precise dispensing even with small tolerances and complex application patterns.

 

ctrlX I/O – Rapid signal processing

ctrlX I/O combines sensors and actuators via EtherCAT with short cycle times. This allows precise process control, stable dispensing processes, and high repeatability.

 

 

ctrlX HMI – Web-based visualization

ctrlX HMI provides browser-based operation and transparent process visualization. 3D viewers and intuitive interfaces support commissioning, diagnostics, and efficient operation.

PLC app – Flexible automation logic

G-code app – Direct programming of dispensing paths

Dispensing paths can be programmed directly using the G-code app. This is ideal for complex contours and variable geometries. ctrlX AUTOMATION allows for a free choice of programming languages, meaning modern languages such as Python can also be used.

 

EtherCAT Master – Deterministic real time

The EtherCAT Master app ensures precise synchronization between the control system, drives, and I/O. This provides the foundation for high-performance and stable dispensing processes.

 

OPC UA – Open integration

OPC UA allows MES/ERP systems, CAD/CAM processes, and third-party components to be integrated in a standardized manner. This enables end-to-end digitalization and traceability.
