Red Dot Winner 2022 – ctrlX SAFETY
The best products of each year are honored in the Red Dot Award: Product Design. Whether aesthetically pleasing, functional, smart or innovative – the products honored by the Red Dot jury are united by their outstanding design quality.
We are very pleased that, following the ctrlX CORE, we have now also received an award in the category "Industrial Design" for our safety solution ctrlX SAFETY.
With the launch of our new automation system ctrlX AUTOMATION in 2019, we not only wanted to go new ways technologically, but also change product design in industrial automation. For this purpose, a consistent design concept was developed for the entire automation system (e.g. blue light pipe, uniform frame, etc.).
This year, a record number of companies applied for the "Red Dot Award: Product Design 2022" and faced the professional judgment of the experts. The design quality and degree of innovation of the ctrlX SAFETY convinced the jury. During development, ergonomics, functionality as well as ease of maintenance were considered in addition to appearance in order to provide an optimal product.
ctrlX SAFETY is the most compact safety solution of its kind and has fastest reaction times.
The following functions are available for a high level of user-friendliness:
- Easy connection of local I/O modules and drives (plug-and-play).
- Lightpipe for module diagnostics
- Intuitive pusher colors for easy handling
- Industrial, rugged design for all production environments
About Red Dot Award
The Red Dot Design Award is one of the biggest design competitions in the world. In three disciplines, participants submit products, communication projects and brands as well as prototypes and concepts. The distinction “Red Dot” is an internationally recognized seal of excellent design.
Every year, the Red Dot Award: Product Design, whose origins date back to the 1950s, sets out anew in search of outstanding design achievements and product innovations. Decisions on the awards are made by an independent panel of experts, the Red Dot Jury. This year, it is made up of 48 personalities from 23 nations. They are all united by the design expertise they have built up during their careers as professors, consultants, designers or journalists. The jurors consider and evaluate each submission. In doing so, the products are not in competition with each other, but are reviewed individually.
