Seed treatment lines:
Dynavia relies on the innovative automation system ctrlX AUTOMATION

Dynavia is a young French company that specializes in seed processing. They have set themselves the goal of maximizing operator safety through complete automation. In particular, the company focuses on systems that fully leverage the advantages of digital transformation. That's why Bosch Rexroth's automation system ctrlX AUTOMATION was implemented.

Securing production lines and simplifying control

Dynavia's development team entered a technologically outdated market with the vision of automating all manufacturing tasks and completely encapsulating the machines. This ensures that employees do not come into contact with the coating powders. Additionally, the company aimed to make the control of its production lines as intuitive as possible, relying on the use of new technologies.

"We have fully exploited the Industry 4.0 concept in our systems by collecting and processing production data for traceability and productivity. Furthermore, we developed digital programs to simplify the maintenance of our systems," explains Vincent Druart, Technical Director of Dynavia.

Software monitoring

Dynavia's latest systems process large amounts of data, which is why no errors can occur in the IT area. For Vincent Druart, it was crucial to be able to monitor all important IT-related metrics remotely. To this end, he developed a monitoring solution using ctrlX AUTOMATION.

"I used the control system ctrlX CORE to implement a monitoring solution. This allows us to receive all warning messages about malfunctions in real time, for example with backups, updates, hard drives, or memory. Thanks to ctrlX AUTOMATION's hyper-connected and very IT-oriented approach, I have access to all the necessary IT metrics to maintain a machine remotely," comments Vincent Druart.

Developing IT functions via the control system

When Vincent Druart became acquainted with the automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION, he was enthusiastic about the concept of a secure Linux-based operating system on which the PLC software variables are accessible.

"The operating system ctrlX OS gives me the opportunity to create something new on a foundation that meets cybersecurity challenges. The solution also offers high flexibility; application modules can be easily added.

The application-based real-time Linux kernel enables the development of many additional functions. I'm thinking particularly of applications based on real-time information, such as vibration control, but also of sending email and SMS notifications to our customers," he explains.

"Vincent Druart's professional background fits very well with what inspired us to develop ctrlX AUTOMATION. He perfectly represents the new generation of talented developers for whom the programs made available must be as open as possible. Furthermore, his career in 'industrial IT' has enabled him to immediately recognize the potential of our new product line. In a short time and almost independently, he has already implemented very successful applications," says Jean-Michel Lerond, Sales Engineer at Bosch Rexroth.

ctrlX AUTOMATION: A complete automation platform

The automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION is not limited to bringing together the worlds of OT and IT. It includes a complete and powerful portfolio of industrial automation solutions. These can be used for classic automation, servo drive control, as well as for controlling all types of robot kinematics in machines and production lines. For this reason, Dynavia successfully uses the industrial control system ctrlX CORE in their new powder dosing system.

"Motion control is performed with our motors, our drives, and ctrlX CORE," explains Jean-Michel Lerond.

"The components we selected for this project are very space-saving. That was an important criterion where Bosch Rexroth stands out from other suppliers. In addition, the power supply is via 230 V. This is an enormous advantage for our powder dosing system, which we want to sell both as a standalone unit and as a module in a complete system," summarizes Vincent Druart.
