On September 21st, 2022, Bosch Rexroth presented two new products at a trade press conference at the customer and innovation center in Ulm. A particular highlight were the live demonstrations, which brought the new freedom in automation to life.
"The ctrlX CORE has really amazed me. I can use it like a smartphone. Just install an app and it's a PLC, an HMI, a 3D viewer or much more. Within minutes, I can change the function by switching to another app. Genius!" says Rajvir Singh. He is a development engineer and automation expert. In his own e-learning school and as an influencer, Rajvir inspires thousands of people. In this interview, he gives us insight into his work and tells us why he is so enthusiastic about ctrlX AUTOMATION.
Bosch Rexroth is taking the next step as regards freedom and openness: In the past, the real-time-capable, Linux-based operating system was used exclusively on the control system ctrlX CORE. However, it is now available as a separate solution for industrial environments. ctrlX OS can be used on all levels – from the field level to the cloud, and on a range of different hardware.
Planar systems offer enormous potential for a variety of industry segments. With ctrlX FLOW6D, Bosch Rexroth has raised contactless high-performance transport and positioning to a new level. Free-floating transport platforms, so-called movers, are moved on a horizontal, vertical or overhead working surface. Each mover acts in six degrees of freedom at high speed and with great precision – without any friction or pollution.
With ctrlX AUTOMATION, Bosch Rexroth has created a world of automation in which the specialist knowledge of companies from various domains is combined for the purpose of co-creation. More than 60 third-party providers have already joined the partner world – most recently Salesforce and SICK.
“With our automation toolkit ctrlX AUTOMATION, developed on the principle of the “smartphone for industrial automation”, we took a radical step towards openness in automation back in 2020. In 2021, the leap from an open platform to an industrial ecosystem was achieved. And we’re going further still to allow even greater freedom and openness in industrial automation."
