Whitepaper: The future of automation – Part 3
Like many other sectors, the industry is in the midst of change. Increasing digitalization and networking give rise to new technologies and processes, but, above all, create significant potential for automation and optimization. A completely new world of automation is being created. It thrives on the fact that the capabilities of control technology, IT and IoT work in meaningful interplay and can be ideally exploited.
Heterogeneous solutions of the past are giving way to flexible value creation systems. Rigid and complex automation systems are therefore gradually being replaced by open platforms that meet today’s requirements for networking, flexibility, individualization and speed in industrial processes. The overriding goals are process optimization and increased efficiency as well as the creation of new business models and higher added value.
