Hardware and software components of the solution set

ctrlX CORE – Centralized control

The industrial control system ctrlX CORE is the central hub. It offers maximum performance and open interfaces such as EtherCAT, Profinet, EthernetIP, Modbus TCP and OPC UA for all automation tasks. It enables simple connection to higher-level systems, cloud solutions or existing infrastructures – for end-to-end networked packaging automation.

ctrlX OS – Open operating system

The operating system ctrlX OS with ecosystem provides access to a comprehensive world of apps. The portfolio not only includes apps from Bosch Rexroth, such as ctrlX MOTION, ctrlX PLC, EtherCAT Master, 3D Viewer and OPC UA Server, but can also be supplemented with apps from the ctrlX World such as WebIQ Server from Smart HMI .

The solution is “secure by design” and is already compliant with the Cyber Resilience Act. Ideal for scalable, future-proof packaging automation solutions with minimum engineering input.

ctrlX DRIVE – Modular drive for every machine size

The compact drive system ctrlX DRIVE can be flexibly adapted to different power requirements and machine sizes – including as a space-saving variant for smaller applications. ctrlX I/O Drive also provides a servo terminal for the low voltage range 24 V/48 V. Its features include high power density, less cabling, passive cooling and quick and easy commissioning. Perfect for dynamic drive tasks in the packaging process.

ctrlX I/O – Seamless communication and maximum openness

The ctrlX I/O portfolio expands the automation system ctrlX AUTOMATION with additional interfaces at the field and control levels. The ctrlX I/O portfolio is based on EtherCAT right down to the terminals, diversity of interfaces and safety technology. This means that users are ideally equipped for the future and can benefit from efficiency and flexibility. Interface modules for protocols such as IO-Link, Modbus RTU and serial communication facilitate connection to a wide range of devices at the field level.

ctrlX SAFETY – Scalable safety directly in the system

The safety controller ctrlX SAFETY enables safety functions to be integrated into the drive or implemented as a complete safety control system. The system meets the highest standards and can be seamlessly integrated into ctrlX DRIVE and ctrlX CORE. This ensures safe operation without additional effort.

ctrlX HMI – Flexible HMI solutions

Machine operation is easy and intuitive with ctrlX HMI. The HMI hardware offers maximum flexibility in terms of size and complexity, and therefore the right solution for every requirement in the packaging industry, from web panels to panel PCs. The ctrlX World expands the portfolio to include additional hardware and software.

ctrlX PLC – Open PLC with IoT capabilities

ctrlX PLC offers classic PLC functionality as a flexible software solution – supplemented by IoT integration and app-based expansions. Control tasks can be freely programmed and adapted to individual packaging requirements.

ctrlX MOTION – Powerful motion control

With ctrlX MOTION, discrete, synchronized or coordinated multi-axis movements can be implemented precisely and efficiently. Cam discs and graphic movement profiles simplify project planning – ideal for form, fill and seal machines and other complex packaging processes.
