Bosch Rexroth invests 25 million euros in factory automation in Lohr

Electronics production and logistics are strengthened

Bosch Rexroth is investing around 25 million euros in the electronics manufacturing and logistics of its automation area in Lohr-Wombach and is supporting the positive development of its factory with automation business.

Lohr a. Main. "Our innovative automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION is achieving an excellent response in the market. And we want to strengthen our activities in factory automation overall. Lohr also plays an important role in this business field. That is why we are continuing to invest in our manufacturing and logistics there," says Dr Marc Wucherer, Member of the Executive Board with responsibility for Sales and Factory Automation.

On the one hand, the investments flow into electronics manufacturing to ensure high flexibility, efficiency and quality. The automation platform ctrlX AUTOMATION, for which Bosch Rexroth was awarded with the “Deutsche Innovationspreis 2021”, is developed according to the latest standards, and manufactured in highly efficient facilities.

On the other hand, a new logistics center is being built especially for the automation business. It is intended to meet the increasing demands of customers for ever higher availability of products and faster processing of orders and service requests, and to provide space for the further development of the business with automation products. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2022, with commissioning planned for mid-2023.

Planned new building of the logistics center on Bürgermeister-Dr.-Nebel-Straße in Lohr-Wombach, the headquarters of the business unit Automation & Electrification Solutions

The logistics center will offer space for around 10,000 high-bay storage locations for pallets and around 65,000 small load carriers on a floor area of around 8,900 square metres. Incoming raw materials as well as manufactured products and spare parts will be stored there or prepared for dispatch. This means that in the future almost three times as much storage and logistics space will be available as before.

The new logistics center will be built in the south-eastern part of the plant site on the Bürgermeister-Dr.-Nebel-Straße on an vacant site. In the course of the new construction of the new logistics center, delivery traffic is also to be reorganized. For this purpose, it is planned to create an additional access road in the southern part of the site.

In May, Bosch Rexroth announced extensive investments of more than 100 million euros in its hydraulics business in Lohr: The foundry there is being modernized and a new logistics center and office building are being built.
