Three times more drive for automation

ctrlX AUTOMATION at SPS 2023: Three times more drive for automation

  • New compact servo drive for applications in the power range from 0.05 to 1.5 kW
  • Third generation of cabinet-free drives
  • New 24 / 48 V servo module for low-voltage applications

At booth 450 in hall 7, Bosch Rexroth will present new products geared to the automation toolkit ctrlX AUTOMATION. The focus will be on openness. This is reflected in the operating system ctrlX OS and in new products such as the linear motion system ctrlX FLOWHS which is seamlessly integrated into the ctrlX AUTOMATION world. The company will also present three new drive solutions which complement its ctrlX DRIVE portfolio.

Bosch Rexroth is expanding its range of servo drives all the time. Through integration into the product family ctrlX DRIVE, users benefit from the openness, scalability and flexibility of the entire automation toolkit.

New compact servo drive for low-power applications

A new servo drive for applications in the power range from 0.05 to 1.5 kW is now available. It is 50 % smaller than the previous IndraDrive Cs drives and offers various features such as virtual commissioning and a digital twin.

“The voltage category and protection class are important criteria when choosing a servo drive. ctrlX DRIVE already covers a wide range of voltages from 380 to 480 VAC. As a device for control cabinet installation, it’s gone down extremely well with users. Based on just one universal architecture platform, we can now cater for low-voltage applications too. Depending on their requirements, users can choose between various voltage ranges without having to switch to different systems. This makes it easier for them to respond to changing market conditions and requirements,” explained Steffen Winkler, Vice President Sales Business Unit Automation & Electrification Solutions at Bosch Rexroth.

Cabinet-free drives and new 24 V / 48 V servo module for low-voltage applications

Bosch Rexroth will also present the third generation of cabinet-free drives at the trade fair. Steffen Winkler said: “We’re responding to a trend. As a pioneer for cabinet-free systems, our customers benefit from more than 15 years’ market experience. On the basis of ctrlX DRIVE, we now offer significantly improved scalability and topology for drives in protection class IP65.”

The IP65 drive system allows a high level of flexibility thanks to its single and dual axis design, a scalable number of axes, various cooling concepts, Multi-Ethernet and Multi-Encoder, configurable extensions and much more. As a result, various topologies can be achieved and modifications can be made easily according to requirements.

The portfolio is complemented by the new servo module for the 24 V / 48 V low-voltage range. Its features include high power density, less wiring, passive cooling and quick and easy commissioning. It can also be integrated seamlessly into a ctrlX I/O station. “A particular feature is the protective low voltage of 60 VDC. With our new servo module we remain under this voltage and this makes the system much easier to use. This means that no specialists, e.g. electricians, are required. This is a major advantage given the shortage of skilled workers at the moment,” explained Steffen Winkler.

In addition to these innovations, Bosch Rexroth will present its entire portfolio with new features geared to the automation toolkit ctrlX AUTOMATION, the new high-speed linear motion system ctrlX FLOWHS and the industrial operating system ctrlX OS. SPS 2023 will take place in Nuremberg from November 14 to 16, 2023.
