ctrlX OS and ctrlX AUTOMATION stand for radical openness and diversity – and are thus constantly developing in terms of functionality and application options. New apps, updates and other components ensure that state-of-the-art automation is possible. This is also shown by the LTS release 2.6, which is now available.
Bosch Rexroth publishes an LTS release, i.e. long term support, once a year. This means that service packs with bug fixes and security updates are maintained over several years. Users benefit from long-term stability, security and continuous support when using the solutions.
ctrlX WORKS Engineering is now modular and reloads required modules as required. This enables optimum adaptation to specific requirements.
The 3D Viewer, IDE graphical programming environment and Oscilloscope apps are now equipped with functional extensions to make engineering processes even more convenient and efficient.
And with the Model Connect app, code generated in MATLAB/Simulink can now be run directly on ctrlX OS-based devices – making development and workflows easier. The ctrlX OS web interface can be configured to be user-specific using widgets and can now be extended with the System Overview app for more precise and user-friendly diagnostics and system information.
The CODESYS Professional Developer Edition is now available from the product portfolio of ctrlX World partners. This enables model design, version management, code analysis and test automation in addition to ctrlX PLC Engineering. The Nexeed Control plus engineering framework enables users to configure machines as easily and quickly as possible, with as little programming effort as possible.
The key to quality inspection and improvement are the Vision apps from the ctrlX World partners 36ZERO Vision and HD Vision Systems, which now meaningfully expand the ctrlX OS application options. These apps are designed to work without any specialist knowledge, making vision applications accessible to everyone. In addition to the apps, ctrlX World now also offers new device partners for cameras, optics and lighting systems. This allows complete solution sets to be implemented in direct application.
There are also significant innovations for motion tasks. The ctrlX MOTION app supports up to 128 axes and provides numerous new PLCopen features. Synchronized multi-axis movements can be efficiently applied using the Electronic Transmission feature and a multitude of technology functions. There are also extensions for robotics applications: Scara & Delta kinematics are supported, in addition to Cartesian kinematics. Application templates, application-specific technology functions and graphical programming considerably reduce the engineering effort and complexity.
The new release offers more flexibility in the use of hardware resources in the ctrlX OS environment. For example, users can flexibly use and allocate processor cores for real-time and non-real-time applications. In addition, backups and restores of ctrlX OS data, apps and projects are now even more flexible and simple.
Bosch Rexroth has made more improvements to communication in automation networks through enhancements and new features in the EtherCAT Master app and the OPC UA apps.
In addition, the new Bosch Rexroth control platform ctrlX CORE X5 and support for ctrlX COREplus expansion modules for 80 GB SSD storage and multi-ethernet master/slave provide even more hardware support. This further increases the flexibility and performance of automation solutions.
