ctrlX OS App Model Connect won automation app award

We are thrilled to have won the “automation app award” for the second time in a row. This year, our ctrlX OS app Model Connect won first place in the Engineering & Robotics category! In an online vote, the users decided who would receive the award. We are delighted with the positive response and would like to thank everyone who voted for our app. This award fills us with great pride and confirms that we are leaders in innovation.

The award was presented by the trade magazine Elektrotechnik AUTOMATISIERUNG (only available in german) in cooperation with the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association) for the best automation apps. The award ceremony took place on April 10, 2025 at the Vogel Convention Center in Würzburg.

What exactly is behind the app: The Model Connect app offers an alternative to traditional PLC programming. It connects ctrlX OS devices with powerful model-based software development systems that improve the efficiency and quality of software and simplify its maintenance. MATLAB and Simulink were supported in the first version. This made it easier to develop, validate and simulate complex systems such as machines or special process or control technology using models. The app now supports the open FMI standard (Functional Mockup Interface) and thus the connection of around 200 simulation systems on the market.
